Just Can't Stop
So I'm kinda thinking that since I'm maybe kinda just a little obsessed with the darkroom, I'm going to take 1b! I mean there really isn't any reason for me not to, I sit in on the class all the time anyways... While imposing on the class one day we worked on cyanotypes. And frankly they're pretty awesome! I thought photograms were amazing. It's like photograms on steroids. It's basically amazing. It also got me thinking. I'm pretty sure after I make my pinhole camera (sooooon!) I will be trying the cyanotypes with it. Pretty excited!

Hopefully mine looks this awesome!

By the end of the day, my book will be in the process of being processed. Needless to say, I'm pretty stoked. I feel that a mini book making obsession may be in my future. This may or may not be a good thing.

I Now Know...
I now know what the most challenging part of this whole book is! I thought that the proposal, shooting, and editing would be hard. Well my friends, I was terribly mistaken, for the most difficult part is developing the title. As Shakespeare would put it "what's in a name?" except I'm pretty positive that he was not referring to the title of a digital photo book, probably.
Well until next time...(when I do have a book title)

I told you I couldn't live w/o them...

ALSO...
When I finished watching this video there were 153 views. I'm 94.6% sure that about a third of those views are from me haha. I just love this idea. It's awesome. I love the creepiness and eerie feeling to it that is kind of addicting to look at.
Just a Little Something I Found
I have so say I'm not so sure how much I agree or disagree with his methods, but I am intrigued nonetheless.

The Proposal
What to do? what to do?
Technique...check.
Excitement to start...check.
Knowing what I'm actually photographing....
....yeah not so much.
But it will fall into place. I think?
so until next time...(hopefully I'll have an idea by then?!)

Goldsworthy
So last class, we watched a film. To reflect, I wrote a limerick ha ha
There is a man by the name of Andy.
I had no idea if his work would be dandy.
If you wake up that early in the morn,
You must beat the morning rooster's horn.
Your broken icicle swirl was awesome,
I bet when you finished your fingers were so numb.
I can tell for sure you're not lazy,
But I think you just may be a little crazy.
I watched you make those sculptures to look like a seed,
You do it until your fingertips bleed.
Watching you make the stone wall was intense,
And I really enjoyed your use of wool to cover that fence.
I was also completely with you using your hands bare,
But I'm sorry you lost me with your use of human hair.

Battling the Fro
Ok so that may not mean much to you now, but when I finish retouching this photo and get a chance to upload it, you will definitely know what I'm talking about. One full class period and I've only finished half the fro. I wouldn't say I'm discouraged, just a bit overwhelmed; but you know what?! I can see the light at the end of this one. I can see the light.
Until next time...

Smooth Sailing
Scanned old photos today that part was EASY. Loved it. Completely manageable. (not saying Amanda and I didn't mess it up, but it was an easy fix!) After scanning was retouching, and you all by now that I'm not the most Photoshop savvy, so it wasn't perfect, but today was a nice digiphoto day! I didn't feel like MAC was controlling me, and the rainbow wheel shyed (shied?) away for the most part. I'm pretty excited for the next class when we bring in our multiple old photos, and self portraits on the scanner!
and until next time :D

Modeling
Today we learned about studio light. AWESOME. I'm basically really stoked to try it and be in charge of lighting someone/thing else's face instead of having mine display the Rembrandt Triangle. (I'll have to google it to see what it looks like, unless someone photographed it) It was a bit crowded for my liking and I would love to get back there on a Friday someday soon when I can spread my photo wings and just go for it!
btw, super excited for the retouching assignment!
but until next time...:D

as of yet.
Ok so maybe not. I'm not really sure what's going on here. I feel like I'm so far behind and I don't know what's going on. I think I'm just a little overwhelmed. This class is gone, but I'll try desperately to make the next one better (and MORE PRODUCTIVE!)
Until next time...:/

contact sheets
I always knew contact sheets were my friend! From the darkroom with the beloved photo paper to now with adobe the contact sheets are cooperating! Hallelujah! Well I'm off to shoot my 10 images with f-stop bracketing.
Until next time!

the new hourglass
So I'm SURE one of these days everything will go right. One day. Finally got batch processing down, so I moved on to photomerging. That ALMOST worked. So close. Except apparently none of my images can be matched. That, I don't know if I understand haha. Of course that leaves me to puzzle them all together manually anyways (again).
Also my relationship with the infamous rainbow wheel is now growing I'm sure soon we will be having picnics in the park on a sunny day because at this rate we are spending so much time together. You know, it's always nice to know that there's someone(thing) that wants to spend a lot of time with you(me)...then again, too bad its the one thing slowing me down so everything I would like to get done takes about 4 times longer that it should. As far as I can see, the main thing I'm learning in this class is patience, and BOY am I learning!
Until next time... :)

Batch Processing
WHAT A DAY!!!!!! I officially HATE batch processing. I understand the concept. Record my actions and then apply the same actions to the next pictures. It SHOULD be that easy, but nooooooo of course not! First none of my files would even open! Then when I was able to open them, they wouldn't save properly. Then when I figured that out, and I thought EVERYTHING was done correctly, the batch processing didn't adhere to ANY of the other pictures. SOOOOOO all class the only thing that I've done is go in huge circles just to start at the beginning and just continue doing it the "old fashioned" way and resizing the images one by one. All I can say at this point is I hope and pray things will go better next week!!!! Thank God Monday's a holiday, I think I need it after this class.
Highlarious
I just searched Hockney on Flickr to see what other people have done. I found my favorite one. Someone photographed a hockey puck a la Hockney and called it "Hockney Puck." TOTALLY made my day :D

Hockney Editing
Today we're working on editing our first image for the Hockney Inspired Assignment. It's actually going a lot better than I thought it would. It's looking a lot more cohesive than I thought, yet it's still weird to try and get used to the fact that things are just NOT going to line up perfectly! I can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with!

Hockney Inspired
Started shooting for the Hockney inspired assignment today. I can't wait to get to the lab to start editing and bringing my vision to life! I'm excited to see what everyone comes up with!

Using old cameras
http://content.photojojo.com/photojojo-original/through-the-viewfinder/
I found this article a few weeks ago. I have a small and growing collection of old cameras and I'm sure not all of them work, but not all is lost! Using the old cameras give digital an awesome "old time" look! :D

These are just a few of the many photos I started taking for our first assignment. I got my family really involved and it got to the point where we sort of played Pictionary. I would hold the button down on bulb and close my eyes until they told me they were done and I would have to guess what it was. I also colored the lights by covering flashlights with plastic wrap and then coloring the plastic with dry erase markers.
